Back Om

Focuses on poses beneficial for your back. Many of us experience "kinks in our hose", (even though our "hose" is designed "kink free"!) So in this class we explore movements and tools to help us to open to the possibility of experiencing our innate state. Most of the class may be on the floor, and props are used. We explore modifying poses so that you can learn to find the "perfect fit" for you each time you practice. Go here to read an interview w/Todd.

Bellydance (Egyptian Inspired)

Discover the ancient art of bellydance with Adriana, a light-hearted & thoughtful dance artist and instructor with over 15 years experience. Adriana offers a holistic approach that gives freedom to express your own personal flow of creativity from within.

Traditional Egyptian bellydance is known as ‘Raks Sharqi’ or ‘dance of the Orient’ in the Middle East. Its subtle nuances, refined movements, feminine grace and beauty characterize this style. It is very expressive in nature and traditionally performed as a solo and improvised dance.

Bellydance is a great form of exercise for women of all ages, shapes & sizes! You can develop body awareness, grace, balance, strength, & fluidity and embrace your Divine Beauty. This class will have a strong focus on proper technique and foundation movements, as well as learning choreography. This will eventually allow you the freedom to improvise, and we will explore this in class. We will also delve into other bellydance styles, fusion and the use of props, such as veils & zylls. Wear loose comfortable clothing and a hip-scarf. Go here to read an interview w/Adriana.

BLIS yoga

Typically starts with a 20~30 minute guided meditation, breathing, and sounding... followed by some gentle movements to warm up. Often we'll stay on the floor for most of the class, but each class is different and we may find ourselves on the bars. We use a lot of props, as they lend and offer support in a wider range of movement possibilities. Many, if not most of the movements and poses may are different from what you may have learned in more classic hatha and vinyasa style classes. more on BLIS Yoga. Go here to read an interview w/Todd.

Mixed levels. Offered several times a week. Please note the Sunday am Blisyoga class is a donation class.

Dance Om

A time to come in and move! There will be a broad range of music played, though there may be a particular theme on a particular evening....(suggested themes are welcomed).

Deep Stretch

Mostly on the floor, this is a class suited to students that want to stretch, relax and do a more yin type of yoga. The focus is on allowing the muscles to release, as well as encouraging our minds to be still. Very relaxing and calming. It's a fabulous class for couples that want to share yoga time, as well as for students that haven't done yoga in a while. Focus on the breath and visualization at the end of class. Even though it's a "deep stretch", you decide how deep to move into each pose. Go here to read an interview w/Vittoria.

Beginners welcome.

Easy Does It Yoga w/Cass

This class has a heavy focus on breath work. We learn basic breathing practices upon which others are built and carry that awareness into other practices. Exploring yoga asanas (often modified), Tibetan Qi Gong practices, Tibetan Tai Chi practices, as well as a few basic dance practices, we use the breath to concentrate
and focus our attention while working in the physical, mental, emotional, and energy bodies. From that space we create openings where we previously held tightness. In so doing we often create a new way to relate to our individual life experiences. We also explore relaxation techniques as well as meditation techniques to enhance our well being. You can go here to read an interview w/Cass.
No previous yoga experience is necessary and all levels are welcome.

Wed 12:30-2 pm

Free Range Yoga

This is an "open practice" style session geared towards those developing their own practice, where you are invited to come in on time so we can all get centered together, then you tune in and explore the movements you are being inspired to express. The class will not be "led", although music will usually be played during class. This is a time for you to really delve into your practice. You'll find that it is very different to practice with others- even if they may look like they are doing something very different, you'll find and feel the support, and your practice will be "sweeter" as a result.

Tue 6-7:20 pm & Thr 11-12:30 pm starting in July! These classes are by donation.

Meditation

Meditation is really the apex, or the whole point of yoga... so it's a big deal. It's not typically something many in our culture are familiar with, so you may find certain forms of meditation unfamiliar, and so uncomfortable. There are many types of meditation, so finding what "works" for you is important. We'll offer a "workshop" where we'll explore different kinds of meditation, as well as offering specific times for simple sitting meditation, transmission meditation, and laya yoga.

Offered occasionally. Please check monthly schedule.

Postnatal Yoga

Moms and babies are welcome to this class where we focus on "closing" what has been open, and on shortening what has been lengthened. We strengthen the abdominal & pelvic floor muscles, help the uterus and other organs 'regroup'. We continue our focus on belly breathing and relaxation, and also on stretching the upper back and shoulders. Babies from birth to crawling stage welcome! Time for sharing and community. Prenatal Yoga

This is a class for women at any stage of pregnancy. We practice yoga, breathing (simple, deep belly breathing) and share what's important on any day. Being in community happens naturally when women come together and during pregnancy there is even more of a need to be among other women. Yoga during pregnancy helps you get in touch with your changing body and provides space and time to quiet your mind. We practice asanas (yoga poses) as well as meditation and begin to make a connection with the baby in your womb. Even practicing once a week can help alleviate tiredness, back pain, nausea & anxiety, and can prepare you for birthing and mothering. Beginners and experienced yoginis welcome! Yin Yoga

This class is offered on a series basis as well as a drop in one evening a week. It is suitable to all the tight people out there! All the men and women that say “I am too tight to do yoga!” can come to this class.

The yin approach utilizes long, supported, postures, that you simply relax into... when the muscles are relaxed, then the myofascial tissue surrounding them can begin to stretch and also strengthen.

Yin Yoga is a term coined by Sarah Powers and popularized most notably by Paul Grilley. Basically, it is an approach to using yoga to counter some of what the Taoist believe tends to happen with many of us as we age, namely that from the waist down we tend to get tighter and tighter, and from the waist up we tend to grow weaker...

The postures are designed to help you move each joint in its full range of motion through its natural range... this is done through gentle but persistent compression of the joints as one hangs out in, and melts into a stretch, so most of the practice is on the floor, and most of it is passive.

Wed 7:15-8:30 pm and as a series in the am (check calendar for times)
